Join us in honoring our 2020 Woman Lawyer of the Year, Jeannie Rhee, Partner in the Litigation Department at Paul Weiss. Ms. Rhee has been instrumental in a variety of investigations and cases that have become part of our national zeitgeist. In May 2017, Ms. Rhee joined Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office as lead prosecutor to guide the team investigating Russian cyber, social media, and intelligence efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election. While there, she was able to secure two indictments, as well as the prosecution of Roger Stone and guilty pleas from Michael Cohen and George Papadopoulos. Click here to read more about Ms. Rhee’s accomplishments.
Our keynote speaker for the evening is Coline Jenkins, the great-great-granddaughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Coline Jenkins is a legislator, author, and television producer. Through the years, she has used her talents to inspire both awareness and pride in women’s history. Coline is co-founder and president of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Trust, a collection of 3,000 objects of women’s suffrage memorabilia that has been lent to museum exhibits, book publishers, documentary film producers, presidential libraries, popular magazines, television programs (both domestic and international) and Congressional testimony. The Trust’s lending practice fulfills its mission: To preserve the history of the women’s rights movement, to educate the public on this history, and to promote the advancement of women’s rights.
Our theme for this 2019-2020 bar year is "Building Community, Building Power". This theme recognizes that if we put our energies into making change collectively, with determination and creativity, we will achieve great things. The WBA as an organization serves as a catalyst for women helping women.
Founded in 1917, the WBA is one of the oldest voluntary bar associations in the United States dedicated to the advancement of women in the law. Our Annual Dinner helps support the ongoing efforts of the WBA to maintain the honor and integrity of the legal profession, to promote the administration of justice, and to advance and protect the interests of women lawyers. Proceeds from the Annual Dinner also help support the WBA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to leverage the generosity of lawyers and friends to support nonprofits that serve the legal and related needs of women and girls in the DC Metropolitan community
